The science supports a claim about functions; the popular version converts it into a claim about persons, and imaging studies looking for globally one-sided individuals do not find them. Two hundred million callosal fibres keep both hemispheres in play on almost any task, a right-hemisphere stroke can leave someone speaking grammatically and missing every joke.
