Sculpture I / Modelling From a Referent
Practice question · True or false

The dossier of process evidence is an administrative requirement rather than a working method.

Hints
  1. Ask what a photograph of an intermediate stage is useful for.
  2. A stage cannot be reconstructed once it has been worked over.
Show the answer

False

Why

False. Modelling is subtractive of its own history, every stage destroys the one before, and no amount of memory reconstructs it. Photographs from fixed positions at each stage are the only record of the decisions taken, and the stage you most want to see again is invariably the one you did not think worth recording.
