Thesis check: WWII island-hopping essay

Draft thesis: "The island-hopping campaign succeeded less through combat superiority than through logistics: by isolating rather than capturing strongholds, the Allies turned distance itself into a weapon." Too clever? Not arguable enough?

It's arguable and previews structure — keep it. But "distance itself into a weapon" needs a body paragraph that actually cashes that metaphor out, or cut it.
