Photography I / Managing, Selecting and Sequencing Images
Practice question · Put in order

Arrange the stages of post-exposure work in the order they are normally carried out.

Hints
  1. Backing up comes before anything that could be lost.
  2. Sequencing needs a finished set to work with.
Show the answer
  1. Ingest the files and make the second and third copies
  2. Add keywords, captions and copyright
  3. Make a first pass, marking anything usable
  4. Make a second pass, reducing to the working set
  5. Sequence the working set into an order
Why

Putting the backup first is not fussiness. Every stage after it is destructive in the sense that it commits time to files that may not exist tomorrow, and the one irreversible failure in the whole workflow is the card that is reformatted before the second copy is written.
