Perspective in a photograph is fixed by the position of the camera. The shot that holds the subject the same size while the background changes scale is the dolly zoom, built for Hitchcock's Vertigo in 1958. A camera placed below the subject's eye is a low angle. So-called telephoto compression is really a consequence of subject distance.
The last blank is the correction worth carrying out of the lesson. Compression is a property of standing far away; the long lens is what makes standing far away practical. Attributing the effect to the glass makes the effect impossible to control, because you can no longer see what actually produces it.
