Complete the vocabulary of the frame.

The Catalan term for what lies inside the frame is dins de camp, and for what lies beyond it, fora de camp. Burch divided that outside space into six segments. The ratio of the standard 35 mm frame is 3:2, and the photographer who printed the full frame with its black rebate showing, to assert that the framing had been decided at the moment of exposure, was Cartier-Bresson.

The last blank is an argument disguised as a printing habit. Showing the rebate proves that nothing was cropped, so the black border is a signature on the claim that the four edges were chosen in front of the subject rather than recovered afterwards on the baseboard.
