Practice question · Select all that apply

Which are true of parallax error?

Hints
  1. Three describe where the error comes from and where it bites; one names the type that abolishes it.
  2. A mirror in the taking path removes the separate viewing path altogether.
Show the answer
  • B. It arises when the viewing path and the taking path are optically separate
  • C. It affects the twin-lens reflex and the rangefinder
  • D. It grows worse as the subject comes closer to the camera
Why

The fourth reverses the fact. The reflex mirror exists precisely to remove parallax by showing the taking lens's own image, which is why reflexes took over close-up, macro and long-lens work while rangefinders kept the wide and normal reportage ground.
