Why
Ordinary life keeps both hemispheres informed: eyes move, hands cross, sound reaches both ears. Only a laboratory can restrict input to one side, which is why the deficit needs a flashed image and a fixed gaze to appear at all, and why the unity we experience is maintained rather than given.
