Practice question · Put in order
Arrange the stages of a hybrid workflow ending in a contact print in order.
- Contact-print the transparency onto sensitised paper
- Correct the file and set the tone curve
- Print the file as a digital negative on transparency film at final print size
- Scan the negative
- Process, wash and dry the print
- Expose and develop the film
Hints
- The transparency has to be the size of the finished print.
- Contact printing comes after the digital negative exists, not before.
Show the answer

Why
The route is longer than either pure workflow and it exists because it is the only way to make a large contact print without exposing large film. That is why nearly all platinum and cyanotype work now runs through a computer somewhere in the middle, whatever the finished object looks like.
